The National Consumers League was founded in 1899 to protect and promote social and economic justice for consumers and workers in the United States and abroad. NCL stands, first and foremost, for confidence and safety in the marketplace. It educates consumers on a variety of issues.
NCL provides government, businesses, and other organizations with the consumer's perspective on issues that include child labor, privacy, food safety, medication information, and the current concerns with obtaining fair and equitable mortgage loans.
This site was developed to provide a step-by-step guide to prospective home buyers determine the affordability of a mortgage loan, how to protect against predatory lenders, what to expect at closing, and how to prevent foreclosure. Our goal is to help consumers make informed decisions during the home buying process.
